Sometimes multiple versions of the same media (Movie, TV Show,…) end up in library.
Library view makes it possible to notice that, by the little “multi-file” icon in the top left corner of the episode. It also allows you to select or delete the specific version of the file.
However the selection menu is almost useless. It only provides you with (lots of times truncated) filename and nothing more.
Please make file the selection menu more informative:
At the very least make sure to show the full file name.
Show file size.
Ideally show file meta-data, such as resolution, codec, media length,…
Otherwise it is often time necessary to manually locate files in question and do manual comparison to see which I want to play or keep and which to delete or ignore.
There’s already a feature suggestion for more information in the play-version modal
There’s one for deleting multi-version media as well… that was kind of “solved” (recommendation was to delete from the Get Information page instead which contains all that information and allows deletion as well).
You’re right, these suggestions do exist. And the “Get information” solution kind of solves my delete issue.
But still, I think that the version selection menu as it is, is not very useful and/or descriptive. And (I may be wrong) it appears that it is the same menu in both cases. So fixing it once, would solve the issue twice, right?
In that case… please vote in those respective suggestions. Let’s try to avoid creating redundant requests that distract votes from those already existing ones.
