Better Music Playing and management

Few days ago I stared to use my Android Phone for listening music syncing my music with plex, but the management it's so difficult.

There isn't a view to see all the songs, when you create a compilation you can't play it all the songs at the same time you have to browse artist by artist playing song by song...

I know that you are focus on the video media but I spected something like itunes do but with the PLEX EXPERIENCE.

i think it worth it to spend some time with the music section.

I agree, I would be happy at this point with just being able to see all my songs so I can shuffle them all, but I really want some playlist support.  I don't like using iTunes, I'd rather use Plex.

Lets pick up artists on compilation albums please

+1 playlist support

I have recently started to use this more and previously had iTunes manage it. Well that was a mistake there were multiple copies of the same song. I was wondering why plex was playing the same song sometimes 3 times.

There should be some matching for the songs. If the title and file size are the same then only show one song in list. Maybe even a file clean up option.

I think a playlist should be on the top of the list! That would be cool, have a few people over for some partying and slap in the plex playlist and forget about the music! Nice. I also would like to see ALL my songs so I can shuffle all of them instead of the current directory.
Playlist...Would love it! Lifetime Member here, you guys rock out! Cool stuff because it is my stuff. (music and videos lol)

Playlists from iTunes databases with shuffle would be a just what I need. I'm thinking of a separate system just for audio because Plex doesn't handle it all that well, and I'd really like not to have to do that!

I uploaded all of my music into plex with the hopes of freeing up some space on my phone, but after trying to use plex to play my music I decided that it was useless and I have ended up keeping the music on my phone, I would love to have a usable way of listening to my music from plex.

+1 playlist support!!

+1 Playlist support.

I have been using Spotify for the past year or so and have been incredibly happy with it.  The one limitation it has is the requirement to connect to the internet every 30 days.  I will soon find myself in a position where I am unable to connect to the internet for extended periods of time.  It would be an amazing feature to have plex sync automated playlists to my phone based on my likes and such, even a starred playlist would be pretty sweet, I understand I can do this with syncing individual songs, but something just a bit more flexible and automated would be perfect.

+1!!

Users! I'm not going to bother checking to see if you've all voted for the existing feature request calling for playlist support that predates this one by almost a year, and which already has more than 200 votes, and is already in the top-10 list. I'm not even going to bother explaining the voting system and why +1 is meaningless in terms of advancing the issue in the eyes of the development team (OK, I sort of just did all of that!)

I am going to tell you that indulging in multiple requests for the same feature undermines its positioning in the to-do list, confuses other would-be voters (don't take offense, it got me, too!) and is counterproductive to what I think you are trying to achieve by posting here. Please take the time to vote where it will count most.

I can only hope a Ninja will shut this thread down, or merge it with the more popular request above.

While I agree that most people are emphasizing the playlist functionality I think that this request is more than that.  I have heard of people describing plex as a roll your own netflix, well it would be nice if the music would be more like a roll your own spotify and I think to do that having some kind of "radio" play is essential even if that is just being able to play your entire library on random, but I would prefer something that would allow you to pick a song and get a station based off of that, I know Slacker does something like that, I haven't tried spotify but I would assume that it can do something like that.  If we could utilize the music genome project that would be great.  but basically as it currently stands the music section is only good for playing individual songs or maybe an album if you would like to.

Yes, I know that ... but it was also an opportunity for me to parade my favorite spiel about how to vote, while drumming up support for the lynchpin in any music playback improvements ... playlists.

Seeing as curtbraz, rident and c.murphy360 (the last three +1s in this thread) did not actually vote for this feature, I doubted they had done so properly for the playlist pitch I linked .

Vote early, and vote often -- but vote correctly!

I get your point Mediaconoclast I just thought you were calling for the closing of this thread, I just wanted to make sure that this discussion will not just become about playlist.

Don't get me wrong I think that playlists are very important for audio and video I have been posting about and voting for them from the start.

However there is a lot that can be done to make the Plex audio experience better so far it seems like it's just been tacked on because they could with little to no thought about how someone would use it.

+1 (I voted)

I understand PMS's focus is video, but coming from Subsonic, which is focused on Music, I am missing a lot of features. I'm actually considering going back to Subsonic for music and using PMS for videos.

Consider I'm new to PMS, so maybe there's some features I haven't discovered yet.

Some features that I miss in Subsonic are:

Download Music from Web Interface:

You can download music files from the web interface. You can select what users you want to allow download. For example I only allow friends and family to download files. You can download a single song, an album, or all albums from an artist. Multiple files are automatically zipped before download.

Queues on web interface

Songs in Subsonic (web) have 3 buttons beside it. Play, add, and download. When you click play, it starts playing the song and adds it to a queue list at the bottom, you can then manage it, you can add songs, shift songs up and down, delete songs from queue, and create a named playlist from the queue.

Mobile Autosync

When you listen to an entire song it downloads to my iphones/iPads automatically so the next time you listen to it it's cached. You can listen to all cached items offline. You can manage cached files, delete them, etc. You can also sync files manually before you go on a trip for example.

You can also shuffle from anywhere, artists, albums, playlists, etc.

There's probably some more. I'll add them later as I remember.

Playlists and shuffle play!

+1 yes please

+1 for playlist support in Plex for Music

I too am looking at moving my iTunes library to Plex however I really would like/need the ability to create and manage playlists. Especially when it comes to managing offline content. I am currently an iTunes match subscriber and with the new Sync feature in Plex, I can really see this eliminating the need for my iTunes match subscription.

Just read Mediaconoclast post above and am going to vote for this in the other thread as mentioned.
