Absolutely needed: One album, two artists
the fact that such a simple request is even necessary to add this most basic function, is a joke. this is not a feature, but one of the most basic elements of a media library.

+1 for this. Sad to see a feature request like this still unimplemented after years of people asking for it, especially with all the other improvements Plex has made for music in that time. This is a really basic feature that is supported by standard audio file tags. Jellyfin even has this feature already and the devs literally work for tips.

+1 I am lazy and I like compilation CD’s like “Now that’s what I call music”. At the moment every Album is under “Various” because Plex can’t order the songs to each artist. It’s been 5 years but hopefully devs will listen to the requests. Plex Amp is great for playback but I need better ways to organize my library
The Plex HMFICs apologize, but none of your requests can be addressed. Plex is far too busy addressing the online content features that nearly all of you NEVER REQUESTED.

Multiple artists are supported in MusicBrainz, which Plex uses for metadata, so I’m not sure why it would be such a hassle to implement in Plex. It’s pretty much the major thing holding me back from the paid version.

Some suggestions of how it could look like
1. Duo albums vs Various Artist
I don’t know if people who listen to other genres have the same problem, but in the (Dutch) hip-hop it’s common that two artist collab on an album, and that’s it.
So grouping them under Various Artist isn’t right, because you know who are on the album and it’s not a compilation. Adding every duo-album under it’s own artist is making your library very messy very fast. And adding the album twice isn’t good for the space on your server/computer.
So what I purpose is the following. Make Plex able to recognise a duo album. For example I got an album of “Rico & Sticks”, make it that Plex understands it’s an album of both “Rico” and “Sticks”, and display it on their individual pages. Possibly by recognising the &-sign. If one of the two artist doesn’t have their own artist page it should be created.
At the album page you could make it that both “Rico”, “Sticks” are individually clickable. But the “&” isn’t. That way the page redirects to both artists. This is how it would look on the album page.
The problem you might get is that Plex would create pages of artist or band that have the “&” in their name, so you need an option to correct this if necessary. So this is how it would look in the editing window. On the left a duo album and on the right an album with an act that has an &-sign in their name.
2. Trio albums vs Duo albums
Same feedback as for the duo albums. This is still no various artist in my option, but here could it be tricky, since you don’t use the &-sign twice with three artist. So having an option to state the artists on the album in the edit window (just like the example) would be great.
Below is an example of what the album page would look like. This album would thus be displayed on three pages “The Opposites”, “Dio”, “Flinke Namen”.

Joining the choir to say this really needs to be implemented. I love Plex music and literally use it every day to stream my media. If this one thing can be worked out, it’ll be damn near perfect.
At the moment I’m having to make playlists with my favorite artists that include songs from compilations and soundtracks just to have all their music in the same place. Pretty inconvenient, not to mention frustrating when it seems MusicBrainz has no issue sorting multiple artists within a song or album. I know this has been a six-year ongoing request but c’mon Plex it’s not too late! This function would make every music collector so happy.

Emby supports multiple artists… Why don’t you are working on it? We don’t understand and you’re totally silent for 6 years… We use, we pay and with each beta we hope for a change and… nothing…

I just found out that Plex doesn’t search for artists in compilations, which is really annoying. Seems to be an issue since at least 2013 (Artist vs Album artist) - super frustrating and makes Plex as music library almost useless to me…
I need some support for “compilation” albums too! I have 224 of them and Plex says I have only 13…

+1 just give the user the possibility of choosing between:
- Data Providers automatically handling the library with 1 Artist and 1 Track Artist
- Multiple Artist and Track Artist support with the drawback of not having access to the Plex Music Scanner.
This would be a simple and effective start of fixing the entire “multiple artist” problem. The dream of having both, could be tackled at a later point in time.
Or implement a smart tagging reference tool in the scanner that scans track titles and album titles for any common keywords such as FEATURING, AND, &, WITH and whatever is listed between those, consider those as links between linked artists.
