Block or filter Plex Movies and Shows

Hello. I have seen where we can block or filter our own libraries, but I haven’t seen anything on how we can block and/or filter Plex Movies and Shows or Plex Music. We have grandkids that come by will turn the TV in when we’re busy with something else and we want to make sure they don’t have access to questionable materials we would not want them to see or hear. Is this possible, and how would we do that?

Thank you in advance. :slightly_smiling_face:

Plex DocsPlex HomeParental Controls

Restriction Profiles: Control access, including video on demand, per user.
Online Media Controls: Completely disable all online media for all managed users.

Example using Restriction Profiles:

Create a Managed User in your Plex Home with the desired content restrictions.

Switch to that user when the kids are over (and PIN protect other accounts if necessary).

You could also un-pin the Plex streaming services from the home screen (security by obscurity).

I ran a quick test. Created a managed user with no restrictions. It could see R-rated movies on my server and the Plex movies on demand. I then edited the user, giving it Younger Kid restrictions. It could see only G rated media on my server and the Plex movies on demand.

Note that no system is perfect. I’ve some older movies on my server that are G rated (in US) that may not be suitable for small kids. For example, both Ben Hur and Battle of Britain have G ratings. Neither has any foul language (that I remember), but both have some content that could be considered too violent for small kids - the chariot race in Ben Hur and aerial battle scenes in Battle of Britain.

Thank you for the information. It was a big help. :slightly_smiling_face:
