[Feature Request] Parental controls / ratings restrictions for admin

Hello,

I’ve been searching for a way to set up some sort of parental controls and/or ratings restrictions on my Plex server. I opened up a thread here

Ultimately, I am learning its not a possibility so I’m moving it to the feature request forum. I’m looking to create users or shares…Just want to see some way to set up parental controls and/or ratings restrictions on my admin account.

Unless you can deactivate them while browsing your collection on the Plex TV app then I think it makes sense.

As far as I know I can’t set them up or deactivate them on my iOS app either. My understanding is something like that is only administered through the Plex web app and that’s not what people are going to be browsing on.

How about making another user on your account and make a tag for shows you only want to allow the user to see select all the shows and apply the tag go to parent controlls set the user to only see shows/movies with the tag and then use that user and leave the admin account for if you need to make changes/modifications

I would love to see this and I don’t understand why it hasn’t been done already.

I found the managed users section that _Dad was talking about and it is exactly what I was wanting to do!

You can create managed users and restrict the content they view to only certain ratings you decide or items that have a certain sharing tag assigned to them. Then you can add a PIN to the main account/user that would have access to everything.

As the OP, I’ll agree with @SteelShadow here. They hit the nail on the head with my reason for wanting to see this as an option/feature … that you’d have to take a lot of time to rate each title individually in order to include…
It would take much less time to tag/rate what you want filtered.

In the meantime I did follow the recommendations by others. But again, it’s less than ideal.
