I use a generic Bluetooth remote paired with my Amazon Fire HD 10 (2017). It has always worked perfectly up until about a week ago or so. Currently the previous and next track buttons do not work. When I press either of them, they will only jump forward or back about a half-second. I can confirm the remote itself is still functional because it works with other media programs.
It’s off and on. Play and pause work one time and not the next. Use to think it was the Bluetooth headphon s I was using, butt he issue never occurs with Netflix, Prime Video, etc. This will go in for years though. We need a petition to fire the Android app developers.
I have a similar situation in the car.
The car head unit on android 8 does not switch tracks with hardware buttons on the steering wheel. In all other players, the buttons work. In Plex, these buttons work like rewinding a song for a couple of seconds.
They definitely read at least some of the threads and then seem to care about users’ issues. This thread? Not so much. Although it’s been way too long for a lifetime Plex Pass user to not get any recognition.
This has been an ongoing issue for 6 months now. It is still not resolved.
In suffering through another issue that I posted in the forum here, I discovered the Bluetooth remote works differently when in the Music Library view sorted alphabetically by artist with the currently playing track at the bottom of the screen. Here is the breakdown of the remote functions by view:
Button —> Action
Music Library view
Play/Pause —> Plays first album by first artist with artists sorted alphabetically
Next Track —> Next track
Previous Track —> Previous track
Now Playing view
Play/Pause —> Play/Pause
Next Track —> Skips approximately 1/2 second forward
Previous Track —> Skips approximately 1/2 second backward
I hope my troubleshooting will help you address this in a timely manner.
