Server Version#: 1.18.1.2019 & 1.18.2.2015
Player Version#: 1.4.0.924-60046db9
I installed 1.18.1.2019 last night and everything was seemingly running fine. Sometime after the change of day (midnight), the server stopped loading. I’ve tried stopping / restarting Plex, I’ve tried updating to the newest Plex Pass download (1.18.2.2015), and I’m attempting a few other things… but the app hangs at startup. I’ve noticed that Shield users are having the exact same issue on Android, so I’m assuming the same bug has made its way into the Synology release.
Is there a current workaround? I’m not very sure if I’m able to downgrade without destroying my database, and I’m hoping PLEX is able to get out a similar hot fix to the Shield server if the issue is similar. Wish I could provide logs.
PMS is stopped when installing updates. It’s the first thing done.
If that time isn’t long enough for Linux to close all the old sockets (TCP connections), it can cause problems when PMS retries to restart and listen again.
Do I force everyone to wait 120 seconds for an installation to be certain? I prefer not to.
When all else fails, make DSM restart all TCP by restarting.
I guess it’s confusing for me because I successfully installed it last night and played something to make sure it was working correctly. Sometime this morning it crashed and burned, and wondering if there’s some sort of stability issue lingering from any older betas. (I know the Windows build had quite a number of server startup issues documented on the Beta forum.)
I uninstalled and reinstalled 1.17 and have been working my way up the release ladder. Each has been working correctly so far. The oddest thing, my Mac displays a grey menu bar on the left now instead of the transparent black (when mousing over the libraries), but the web view shows the transparency correctly.
Trying to figure out how to fix this new issue has been a task. Thinking about moving back up to 1.18.1.2019 to see if this whole thing was just a big fluke. Especially now that I have some older Plex builds on hand.
