There is limited playlist support currently and you can view your existing playlists and play content from them but you cannot add to or modify playlists.
You can find the Playlists section by going to the Libraries section, selecting the library you want and selecting “Playlists” from the top horizontal list just under the header (where you see Recommended, Browse, etc.)
Please bring back a view which contains all playlists as before
As well as enable download for all items in a playlist (smart and manual)
This both features are my main usecase for plex for very long time.
As a software engineer/architect myself, I have to ask - what are you guys thinking at Plex?? (android app) You have just gone backwards with the App! I used Playlists extensively via the app (esp as a way to add an entire folder and sub-folders to a playlist enmasse - rather than do it one file at a time on the web version).
Seriously, please reconsider your design decision to effectively remove playlists from the [Android] app! (yes, I know I can access existing playlists still)
As someone who also uses several playlists I added on my server… yeah, to say I immediately downgraded to the previous version on my Android tablet would be an understatement, since making playlists essentially hidden and borderline useless is a HUGE step back. Please add it back in as soon as you can, or put this new update on a completely different ‘update-track’, with the previous version still publicly available.
it’s bad enough that the Plex photos app doesn’t play my Pixel 8 phone videos without buffering every 3 seconds… just created a playlist on my Windows app to share and found it you can’t access it from Plex photos.
Seeing as this thread was started more than 3 months ago, I don’t have a lot of hope that it will get fixed anytime soon.
The all-in-one Plex app was so much better than this. What are you guys (Plex) doing?
+1. I updated my phone to the latest and while I can still see my existing smart playlists, I can no longer sync them to my phone. I didn’t realize the playlist issue was larger than that.
For now, I have Plex frozen at 10.26.0.2578 until this gets resolved.
Adding to the chorus of “Bring back the playlists” as they were in the previous version of the app.
Yes, I understand how they are found now, choosing the library, etc. All due respect, this new system doesn’t hold a candle. Like many folks, I’ve spent a long time building playlists that contain exactly what I want and in a way that they were perfectly accessible.
Not holding my breath though which is why, I too, will continue to use the previous app on an older device until it the new app gets sorted out.
Playlist functionality has basically been nearly destroyed with the way that playlists are now buried within individual libraries that are harder to get to quickly, especially when accessing your libraries takes many more steps than it used to with the better, previous “older” UI layout. Plus now, other users that playlists are shared with can no longer access those -playlists whatsoever on their updated Plex clients.
