Hi everyone, I appreciate there is a dedicated section for this but I have just got the mentioned storage device and was wondering if i had the option to be able to stream my media to plex from it without having to have my desktop computer on which is where my plex media server is installed. I use plex on all our smart tv’s in the house and on occasions via mobile phone and tablets. Please advise asap if possible.

Plex is a client/server system without both pieces it cannot work. Therefore your server MUST be on and accessible for it to work at all no matter where or how your media is stored.
