Buffering and Crashing on 4K Content

  • LG OLED
  • Plex Media Server is on a Windows 11 machine
  • Xbox One X console using the Plex app
  • Hardwired ethernet from the router, to the Xbox. AV receiver has the Xbox HDMI, then the receiver HDMI to the TV
  • Hardwired ethernet from the router, to the Plex Media Server. Basically everything here is hard wired
  • Direct play is showing on the Plex Media Server. Everything is selected correctly, including audio output as 5.1 for my setup

When playing full 4K remux, high bit rate content, it rarely works. It either buffers, and then ultimiately the Plex app on the Xbox crashes out, or becomes completely unresponsive, and back to the Xbox home screen.

Tried re-installing the Plex app. Updated Xbox console, still no joy.

As I say, everything is hard ethernet wired, everything is being direct played. 4K full remux content does work, but anything with a high bitrate is causing the above symptoms.

Has anyone experienced this and got any suggestions on how I can resolve this?

Thank you

You’ll need someone wiser than me to give you advise. But I’m 99% sure that this wise person will ask for some server logs.

I can grab server logs.

In the meantime, has anyone else experienced this before?
