Hi guys
I’m having several issues here, so let’s start with the beginning: my setup.
I have a NAS DS215-j with version DSM 6.2.1-23824 Update 4
On this NAS are all the media files.
I have an Intel NUC7i5BNK with an intel i5 7260U CPU, M.2 256 SSD and 32 GB RAM
On this NUC I run the PMS on Windows 10.
I have several players I use like my tablet, my laptop or my LG OLED TV.
It’s the OLED TV I’m having issues with. Even with 720p its having tons of buffering issues. 4K sometimes works without issue, but once it needs to do transcoding, the buffering is back again.
What I tried now was putting the tv show (720p) I had those issues with, on the PMS itself, and it magically worked without problems. Same goes for 4K movies, although transcoding those to 1080p still makes the CPU go to 100%.
Hardware transcoding is on, and I have seen it working by the (hw) seen in the “now playing” section.
2 questions:
- Is my NAS really too slow to perform for this network
- Is the NUC incapable of doing 4k transcoding and stuff like that (Have seen a guide though, but was on Ubuntu). Was hoping it would be no problem for those specs…
- Is the 100 Mbps interface of the LG TV a bottleneck as well?
- What can I do to get this up and running with (not high at least) additional cost.
