Buffering on Direct Play and quality above 2mbps

Been having issues for a while, but always figured it was a problem with me as opposed to my server (remote server in datacentre, 1Gbit/s up and down.

I get the issue on direct play/direct stream; and most transcoding options until I go to around 2Mbps. It’s just buffering constantly every few seconds. My personal internet speed is 350Mbps, and the same issues occur with pretty much everyone else who uses my server. This issue happens regardless of how many people are using the server, or if it’s uploading/downloading content. I’m monitoring on netdata, and 4 people are using it with a total speed of 12Megabits on outbound, yet it’s unwatchable above 2mbps. This has only been happening for the last few months, and used to work without issue so I don’t believe it’s a limitation of the server hardware.

PMS.log provided - verbose was only turned on half way through, but both myself and another attempted to play with buffering issues (towards the bottom). Usernames redacted for privacy.(File removed)

your log is from the wrong point in time.

We need to see what happens during the first 3-4 minutes.

  1. DEBUG logging ON, VERBOSE logging off.
  2. Restart PMS
  3. Let sit completely idle for 3 minutes (so the startup sequence and connection to Plex.tv is uninterrupted)
  4. Download the log ZIP
  5. Attach (or I will give you a PM so you can send in private)

Great thanks, just doing the restart now. If you can send a pm, saves having to redact data. Thanks so much for your help
