@Zekesdad and @Andrroid - Thread cleaned up. Please keep things friendly and on topic.
I was able to reproduce my issue, works on one TV but not the other, exact same box and video, same settings, just switched the HDMI cable to the other TV.
I have this issue on all 3 Sony TV’s I’ve tried, never had any issues whatsoever on the Vizio.
Also noticed on the Sony test, adjusting the volume on the Mi Box remote doesn’t work and will only play full volume, but adjusting the volume on the Vizio works.
Attached are the logs from the server, client, and logcat (luckily I have a male to male USB)
Started the video on the Sony TV at exactly 17:57 and Vizio at 18:15.
I have the same issue with the video freezing and the audio playing (AC3) and after a few seconds the video starts again so everything is out of sync. My Mi Box is connected directly to my Denon receiver (2307ci) via HDMI. This was never an issue with my Nexus player. It has happened with the Mi Box and the Plex app since day one. It does not happen on Kodi with the Plex add-on on the Mi Box so the Plex app is definitely the issue.

It doesn’t happen in Kodi, VLC, or Emby. Only Plex.
I have the Mi Box as well and in Plex for Android TV setting Direct Play to disabled seems to have resolved this problem for now.

Same issue here. Running the Mi Box and I’m even on the Plex Beta Channel since in another forum someone said a fix was being worked on but that was a month ago and I haven’t seen any improvements. I’m currently using Kodi with the add-in like everyone else but would prefer to use the Plex app.

[Mod edit] - Totally unacceptable language.
This is extremely inappropriate and offensive.
I’m not a mi box user, but I’m effected by the same issue (all movies with AC3 Audio play for a sec, video freezes (or stay black), but audio continued to play).
I’m using the app on my Philips 55PUS7101. Only solution so far was changing the Android-Profile in plexmediaserver directly to force transcoding for ac3 audio and disabling direct play in the app as described in the following link: http://forums.plex.tv/discussion/comment/1377551/#Comment_1377551
Any update on this?

Just got around to reviewing your logs. I’m not positive but from what I see, it appears that when connected to your Vizio, the box is passing through the 5.1 AC3 to your TV. When connected to the Sony, it is trying to downmix from 5.1 to 2.1.
If you have or can create an audio track with 2.1 AC3 and try playing that on the Sony. If my theory is correct, it should play properly. If so, that means your Sony TV can support AC3, but only 2.1 channels, but your box is not able to downmix to 2.1.

Is this not more reflective of the Profile that is being used for the endpoint player?
For example:
Sony Bravia 2013 (direct):
VideoProfile container="mpegts" codec="h264" audioCodec="ac3,eac3,aac,mp3"
Universal TV (direct):
VideoProfile container="mp4" codec="h264" audioCodec="aac,ac3"
Well guess what Xiaomi support says: “Our decoder is working fine with all the apps we test - Plex is the only one that doesn’t work so it must be Plex’s issue”
Pretty damn infallible logic - if Plex is the only app that can’t properly play ac3 audio… not much else to point fingers at :* Regardless, Plex needs to spearhead communicating with Xiaomi on getting this working. It’s almost been half a damn year that this majorly debilitating issue has existed…
This could have been fixed months ago if Xiaomi/Plex stopped finger pointing and actually worked together to fix the issue.
i was under the impression that plex could transcode media to play on any player…

That would be one easy Plex-side fix that could easily have been done months ago. Still just a workaround to properly direct playing media. Even if direct play is disabled, AC3 playback still fails.
