I think this may be a Plex parser issue and not directly an issue caused by Plexamp but since I haven’t found a way to display album audio quality labels in Plex itself I’m posting this here.
If you’ve activated the album audio quality label in the settings you can see the quality of each album based on the lowest quality of a single track in that album afaik. But if you replace that track and re-analyze the album it won’t change.
Example: I have replaced my CD rips of an album with Hi-Res tracks from Qobuz. The label still shows FLAC 44/16 but it should show FLAC 96/24 instead.
This problem is only caused by replacing tracks with the exact file name as before. If you replace mp3 files with flac files it won’t be a problem as the parser will create a new album entry first and delete the mp3 album entry on cleanup.
I’ve tried refreshing the metadata of the album and also re-analyzing it but that won’t change the album quality label either. The only workaround is removing the album completely from the location to scan → refresh library → album gets deleted → put the album back in the location to scan → refresh library → album shows correct quality label.
If this is indeed a Plex issue maybe you could make the team aware of it.
Thanks
