Bug - Android is regularly waking up the TV when it's off

We’ve (wife and I) been using Plex for many years. Plex lifetime membership. By far, we usually cast our media to our Vizio TV using the built-in casting feature. Using commonly a Pixel 6 Pro phone or a Samsung Tab S9 Ultra and once in a while a Pixel 3XL phone. All on the latest Android app. Server is also fully updated running on a Windows 10 machine.

I’ve noticed for quite some time (at least a year) an odd bug that happens at random. Once we’re done watching something, we’ll turn off the TV but NOT disconnect the casting from the Android device. In the morning, we’ll discover our TV to be turned on. It doesn’t always do it, but common enough.

Last night, once again, we finished watching our shows, turned off the TV and went to do some hot tubbing. I just happen to be able to see into our family room where the TV is located. About 10 min after we had turned off the TV, it randomly turned on and showed the Plex casting page. I then turned off the TV again and it remained off.

Nobody in the household was using anything at that time. Our phones, tablets, and computers we’re all left inside the house and screens off.

I suspect that somehow, when we don’t turn off the casting, it somehow remains active. Maybe when the device wakes up to check on emails, notifications, etc. It somehow reactivates the casting and thus, turns on the TV.

Hopefully someone at Plex can investigate and find a solution.

Merci!
