Playing a video that does not contain audio results in the message, “An error occurred while attempting to play this video. Please try restarting both the Plex Media Server and this app.”
Is this a known issue?
This happens with Plex client v6.15.0.3852 on Nvidia Shield TV and v6.14.0.3665 on AFTVg2 box. The videos play correctly with Plex for LG v3.13.13 and Plex Media Player v3.37.2 on Windows 10. Tested with PMS 1.12.0.4829 on Windows 10 and Nvidia Shield TV.
This happens with all videos. An easy way to test/re-create is using the Jellyfish test files at jell.yfish.us.
I created an “Other Videos” library with the jellyfish-3-mbps-hd-h264.mkv and jellyfish-20-mbps-hd-h264.mkv files. Neither contains audio and both failed to play, with the client returning the above mentioned error message.
I muxed the audio from the jellyfish-55-mbps-hd-h264.mkv file into the 3mbps & 20mbps file. Both files played correctly on my Nvidia Shield and AFTVg2.
