One of the latest updates for the Android TV Plex app broke playback on all items. When I try to play an item it just gives me a generic error “An error occured while attempting to play this video. Please check connection and try again”.
The log seems to suggest that this issue is cause by com.plexapp.plex.ff.data.FFException: Demuxer failed to open input.
I have not found any similar issues. I have tried reverting to multiple previous versions of the app, thus suggesting this might be a server issue. But I’m not able to revert to a previous server verion.
Right after I posted this I thought I’d try clearing the cache because that was one of the last things I hadn’t tried yet. Turns out uninstalling an app and reverting to a previous version does not clear the cache as this turned out to be the solution to my problem.
I would still like to know what was actually going on, so if anyone has an answer that’d be great! I’ll leave this post here as a reference for anyone experiencing a similar issue.
After a couple of days the issue returned and the solution I posted before only works some of the times I tried it. Sometimes rebooting TV helps, sometimes there’s no way to get it working and I’m forced to cast instead of using the native app which is a bit annoying…
