Bug: Apple TV app auto-play timer issue

I am experiencing an issue with the auto-play timer in the Apple TV app. Essentially, the timer still keeps running in the background even when skipping to next episode before it ends. I haven’t found any other posts reporting this.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Start playing a TV show with multiple episodes
  2. At the end of the episode, make sure you see the 15-second countdown timer
  3. Skip to the next episode early by clicking on it
  4. The timer will continue running in the background, and will skip another episode once it’s done.

If you were viewing episode 1, you will now be viewing episode 3 instead of episode 2 like intended. I’ve been observing this behavior for a couple months now, lazily hoping someone else might report the issue, but it still happens in the current version.

Updated the app just now to 8.22 (6477) and it seems to be fixed.

Update once again: the bug just happened again in the new version. Unfortunately, I can’t determine under what conditions it reliably triggers.
