Using payed plex app on android with own plex media server. all good when playing movies etc, playback history / track progressis kept always,
but when playing an audio book the history is always lost and the user needs to start from the beginning everytime and find manually the last playback point.
it’s 2024, playback history is expected to be there for audiobook media as it is for other media, especially having paid the app too.
is this an ignored bug since many years or the user has to pay something to get this feature working as for the other media types?
There is no explicit support for audio books in Plex.
Thus, there is no playback progress for audio files. They are handled like music, which doesn’t need progress.
this is not a satisfactory answer, the problem remains present for many users, also for music what if the user wants to start the song where he left it the day before?
justifying the big and missing feature that is valid for other format just because of the type of media played is exactly the problem and it is not acceptable in 2024.
the use case is valid for many many user and as just confirmed it works with other types of media that are anyway usable, playable and so supported by the plex app and mediaserver
Missing feature sounds like a more reasonable definition of the problem.
Funny fact is that the app actually remembers audio track progress also for audio books for a while, for example if the app is sent to background, or if the playback is paused, the audio book can actually be resumed from the same position.
even more weirdly the track progress is actually kept and also always shown but if the play button is pressed it start from the beginning
