For instance, if I have unrated movies with “Adult” as the genre, and have these movies restricted from certain accounts, that account can still see the “Adult” category in Categories. The category is blank when they click on it, but they can still see that somewhere there are “Adult” movies.
While that may seem fairly innocuous, people with very descriptive genres may not want them showing up for all users.
Also it’s just not an optimal user experience to see categories you can’t access.

Hi @janoskk . I am on PMS 1.28.1.6041 and I am still seeing the same behavior. The restricted account is using Plex Web Version 4.88.1.
I might not be using restrictions the same as you all. Here’s specifically what I’m doing. The restricted account can’t see any movies that are not labeled “Shared”. Some of these movies are NC-17 and have the Genre “Adult”. The restricted account sees an empty “Adult” Category.
