[BUG] DTS Core is recognized as DTS-HD | Plex HTPC

Server Version#: 1.26.2.5797
Player Version#:1.17.0.3002-f753d4a0

Hi there,

I think I might have found a bug in the new Plex HTPC client (on Windows).
When I view the page of a movie with DTS audio (just the core), it shows as DTS-HD in the media flags (first image, right side), although the file has no DTS-HD audio (second image).

Does anyone else have this problem? The normal Windows client shows the audio format correctly.

I’m seeing same thing with 1.17 on Windows and Linux.

MediaInfo shows file has DTS audio. Plex HTPC displays DTS-HD.

Same over here. This bug has been in there since day one. I have already mentioned it on the Plex HTPC feedback thread about a year ago. (multiple times even) Plex HTPC feedback - #472 by Mitzsch

Well and its also present in the LG Smart TV app. I opened a thread in the TvAPP part and a Plex employee already noticed. Maybe there is hope that it will be also fixed in Plex HTPC.

What do you see in the server XML (browse to this file in the browser → get info → view XML)? It’s likely just displaying the info it gets from the server.

Thanks for hopping on the thread. Looks like a display bug. Other clients show the audio as DTS. Also, Plex Dashboard shows it as DTS during playback.

Audio XML (full XML attached below):
Stream id="114135" streamType="2" selected="1" default="1" codec="dca" index="1" channels="6" bitrate="1509" language="English" languageTag="en" languageCode="eng" audioChannelLayout="5.1(side)" bitDepth="24" profile="dts" requiredBandwidths="1505,1505,1505,1505,1505,1505,1505,1505" samplingRate="48000" title="dts 5.1" displayTitle="English (DTS 5.1)" extendedDisplayTitle="dts 5.1 (English)"

Plex HTPC 1.17

Plex for Windows 1.44 and 1.45

It’ basically the same here, @FordGuy61 has described the behavior very well.

This is my XML for the audio:
Stream id="203040" streamType="2" selected="1" default="1" forced="1" codec="dca" index="1" channels="6" bitrate="1536" language="Deutsch" languageTag="de" languageCode="deu" audioChannelLayout="5.1(side)" bitDepth="24" profile="dts" samplingRate="48000" displayTitle="Deutsch (DTS 5.1)" extendedDisplayTitle="Deutsch (DTS 5.1)"
gotg1.xml.txt (36.8 KB)

For some reason the UI code explicitly displays everything with the dca codec as DTS-HD. It is being looked into.

When already looking at it, maybe it could also display the flavor? So DTS-HD Master Audio would be shown as DTS-HD MA and DTS-HD High-Resolution Audio as DTS-HD HRA?

This seems to be fixed with the latest version (1.19.1).
DTS core is now correctly shown as just DTS and DTS-HD as DTS-HD. (although no additional profile like MA or HRA)

Anyways, thanks!

It does show the full name in the track selection modal, though.

Exactly, but would have been nice if it would also show it on the overview screen (like it was in Plex Media Player) but maybe this is not possible due to spacing constraints.
