Currently, the advanced library option to enable “Ad Detection For all Items” is only present if the Live TV/DVR feature is installed. This option should be available for all Plex Pass users.
Like so many users, I have concluded the Plex’s Live TV/DVR is unsuitable for my needs. So I use other DVR recording software. I would still like to use the mark ad feature though and I can’t do that unless I leave the Plex DVR installed. These are unrelated things and the DVR has significant additional unnecessary overhead (guide updates that are pointless and additional memory/processes). Plus the potential for the PLEX DVR to interfere with the DVR that we are actually using.
Please correct this. If we are entitled to a feature, we should have access to it.
Makes completely sense to have this in a Multi-PMS environment. As a first step, I would be happy to have this feature at all if the item in question has not been recorded by the PMS itself.
Yes, I get that I can do it. But a useful feature should not be hidden away like this. Most users will never discover that it exists. Also, if the Server is a different computer or device than the one actually doing the recording, the option to set up the DVR won’t be possible because the server does not have a tuner.
As I said, this feature should be made available to all Plex Pass users. It should not be dependent on the DVR being installed.
