Is it possible to configure the detect commercials feature as a scheduled task only?
I tried to disable it on Live TV & DVR Settings hoping to leave it enabled on the Library so it ran only as a scheduled task rather than immediately after the recording is finished but when you disable it in Live TV & DVR Settings it also removes the option from the library.
Detecting commercials takes up a lot of CPU time so would prefer to run it as a scheduled task only over night when the server is not in use for viewing content.
the ad detection at the library level does indeed seem to be removed if disabled at the dvr level. I will ask our dvr team if this is intended, because this would seem to preclude anyone not using plex dvr from using ad detection (for example if they used a dvr program outside of plex).
as far as library level detection, I would expect this to control behavior, even though it doesn’t explicitly state ad skipping;
You do get that this doesn’t make sense, right? What if the videos came from another device or computer because they have chosen not to use Plex DVR. The presence of this option should only be dependent on the user having a Plex Pass. If the server does not have a tuner, there’s no way for user to access this feature. And to be clear, this feature is a very good useful addition.
