I just updated my other ps3 and i have yet to see an issue. Differences is this the slim ps3 and its wired and the other is the ultra slim and wireless… Im probably close to 20m into a video, im not going to touch anything until it happens… If it happens… Also its the same video that i watched last night
Just for completeness - answers to some of the questions asked.
- When the ellipses appear, the video keeps playing smoothly
- PS3 and plex server are connected together on local network, wired
- not sure how to bring up OSD. If it is what is brought up when I hit pause/play, the timecode is being reported correctly as far as I can tell.
What style ps3 is it
My PS3 is an original model (i.e. fat).
I got an hour into my video and turned it off… No issues.
Thanks everyone for the information. It’s odd that the ...
issue strikes some but not others. kay.one and a tester watched hours of videos pre-release. Yet once the release hit users reported an issue and a couple of other Plex folks ran into the issue frequently enough to debug. Heisenbugs…
We’ve got a fix going into testing tomorrow PST. All goes well we’ll have the fix deployed Thursday PST am.
Massive apologies again for the troubles!
I watched one tv show last night with NO interruptions. It was

and it had NON STOP interruptions of the 3 dots and even a screensaver at one point.
Also-for what it’s worth if a show is paused too long I get an error screen saying something about not starting it soon enough and it has a “Retry” button. Sorry I don’t have that part verbatim.
Hope this helps somehow.
Skinny PS3 btw.
Thank you guys so much for being such awesome people. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
Here’s a quick unrelated question. Are these forums the correct place to report bugs?
In this case, the response (from Matt and Kay) was awesome. But the reason I ask, is because in the past month I have posted a couple bugs in the iOS section, and no one has looked at them, acknowledged them, or requested further information. And these iOS bugs are simple, and should be trivial to fix (one line fixes if the source code is in good shape).
Update for you guys, 2.10.4 was just released, it should fix both issues. If plex is already running make sure you close it and start it again to get the update.
Also, let us know if you are still having issues.
@KMVastro I would say forums are the best place to post questions and get answers, but keep in mind each team manages their forums differently, some teams are more responsive and some teams are not as much.

Try changing your screensaver delay to 30min in settings.I am running a Windows Server 2012 R2 and there is no screensaver set to run. I still have that issue. Also, there is a setting in Plex to handle screensavers now.
Cheers!
Brad, it’s not your OS screensaver you need to change, it’s the one inside Plex itself.
:)) =)) :))
I’ve just grabbed 2.10.4, and have done a quick preliminary test (ran a video for ~10 minutes). At least for me, both issues seem to have been resolved. Good work!
i updated both ps3s and playing video on both right now, my situation is a bit different… it seems i had issues at first and then they went away. anyway ill post back in an hour or so if there are any issues.
thanks for the quick turn around, i feel the interface is a bit snappier than before which is nice!
no issues here
Watched a couple videos tonight, didn’t notice those issues anymore.
Thanks!
Thank you guys!
Now that it’s been updated I’ve been getting a lot of picture break-ups. Sever pixelation happens, sometimes for a split-second, other times it can go one for 5 seconds. This has happened with multiple video files, all of which play fine on any other media player. Only the PS3 Plex app is doing this.
Grifter, it looks like the problem I have described has been resolved. What you are describing sounds like a new decoder/artefact issue. I would recommend starting a new discussion for that issue. I have not noticed this issue myself, but will keep an eye open when I watch some stuff this evening.
This bug seems to have re-appeared today (2016-11-22). While playing several clips, the ellipses (…) appeared on the screen, just like originally reported for this bug.
Could this be a simple code merge issue this time around? (I used to be a software developer, and we sometimes had bugs reappear when we merged in code from branches incorrectly).
My PS3 Plex Client version is: 2.10.8
PS3 is an older “fat” model, running 01.41
Plex Server (Windows 10 PC): 1.1.4.2757
