The Match dialog box doesn’t have a scrollbar, so for shows like Married at First Sight, which has more than 6 sub-shows, you can’t get down to select the correct show.
Also, when using the search feature, Year doesn’t seem to do anything. I try to add 2014 to the search, but it still finds all the other spin-off shows that came after. So I still can’t select the correct show.
I don’t think there’s a missing scrollbar… that’s just the number of “good matches” Plex could find. Apparently the subsequent shows have titles that Plex considers too different (see the decreasing score next to each match).
Have you considered searching for the full name (or naming the show that way right away)?
Have I considered searching for the full name? Is there anyone else there that can help me?
Look, Married at First Sight has 22 entries in TheTVDB. Although Plex’s search results are alphabetically sorted differently, the first six results in TheTVDB match the six results shown in the screenshot above.
The original show (or the USA one) is #17 in the list. And the title matches exactly what I search for. And I put the year that matches TheTVDB, and it ignores it.
So, I don’t know whether Plex’s “good matches” logic can’t handle shows with so many entries or just puts the first six results in alpha order and gives them bogus match scores. All I know is I CANNOT match this show. So Plex has a bug.
There are MANY ways this can be solved. A scrollbar with the full result list would be nice and quick. Being able to search for TheTVDB show ID # would also do the trick. If you want to really solve the problem, you can pop the hood and try to take a look at the limitations and problems in the Match process.
So, moderators… Take a moment and search TheTVDB for Married at First Sight. Try to do a Plex match search for Married at First Sight. Maybe find another show that has more than six entries and see what happens when you do a match search. You know… research.
