When using my Android phone with Server mode enabled on hotspot, iPhone clients/players connected to this hotspot see the server and can play synchronised content perfectly.
However with the web client on Windows and also the installed Windows player, the nearby Android server does not appear in the usual list. It can be accessed by going to settings and switching to the server there whereupon media can be played.
Indeed, elan. Also on the Windows Store version of the desktop client, although I imagine that uses the same code since it’s powered by web technologies I think.
Just heard back from the team; the fact that it appears in the Settings area is essentially a bug, given that web won’t officially support talking to mobile servers until they do a better job advertising their (somewhat limited) capabilities
Aw, so actually I discovered functionality I shouldn’t have been able to take advantage of? Streaming the media once accessing it via the settings page was awkward but it did work and kept me entertained for a long trip. Hope that is of some motivation to the team to at least leave the settings switcher bug in place until it is officially supported
