BUG: Next episode's audio starts playing when watched episode ends on Chrome Cast with Google TV

  • How I recreate the problem:
  • Watch an episode to completion.
  • The screen showing the option to watch the next episode or replay the current episode.
  • The next episode starts playing, but just with audio.

I have to back-out of the screen to stop the now-only-audio-playback.
There are no options on the Android TV player to turn on or off auto-play.

If I leave the audio playback on for long enough and stop it then on the deck I’m shown the unwatched (the one where only the audio played right after the watched episode) as part-played and with the option to resume playback.

It seems random when this happens. Sometimes when an episode ends, playback fully ceases and the audio of the next episode does not start.

If the episode is the last in the series then the audio of the first episode in the first episode of the following season could begin playing, but audio only while the should I play the next episode menu is shown on the TV.

Same issue for me, it’s really annoying. Occasionally auto playback errors playing the next episode saying “error file cannot be played” and then it’s fine when you kick it off again.

Never used to have these issues!

I feel this is the same as, or at least related to, this issue in android mobile - at least the last few posts where I mention something playing in the background in post-play
