[Bug] Not All Music Albums or Movies are shown in Library View when Backing Out of the Play Screen

Server Version#: 1.41.8.9834
Player Version#: 1.71.0.334

Hello all

I reported this Issue back in December 2024 and the Bug is still present.

In Plex HTPC, only 10 Library Items are shown if you Back Out of the Play Screen to the Library Screen.

This Issue also happens with Films, I have 60 Albums and 111 Films, 54 with Collections showing.

To replicate this Issue follow these Steps:

Select the Music Library
All Albums are shown
Shuffle the Music
Select the Small Album Art in the Top Right of the Screen to Open the Play Screen
Back Out by selecting ‘Back’ on the Remote or Press ‘Esc’ on the Keyboard
Only 10 Albums are now shown
Selecting Music in the Side Bar Displays all of the Albums again

It always seems to be 10 Albums, or Films, that are shown.

This Issue can be replicated over and over by following the above Steps.

I have tried Completely Removing Plex Server and Plex HTPC and Starting from Scratch in case something had been corrupted but the Issue remains after everything has been Setup again.

I have to reiterate, we Really need a Public Facing Bug Tracker so we can see what Bugs are Reported.

Thanks in advance

Kevin

Hello all

Is no one else experiencing this Issue?

Thanks

Hello

Well, since I seem to be alone in this I have been doing some work on finding what is happening.

Utilising the Console in Plex Server and then following the Steps above I have found the following Errors:

Jul 11, 2025 16:49:36.800 [12396] Error — [Req#7ee] Unknown metadata type: folder
Jul 11, 2025 16:49:43.876 [12396] Error — [Req#7c7] Unknown metadata type: folder

Thanks

Kevin

Hello @ottokerner

Sorry for bothering you but I have not received any response regarding this Issue and wondered if you could Help.

Thanks

Kevin

That is an error but not likely the one causing your issue. Please provide the entire log.

Hello @MovieFan

Thanks for the Reply, it is appreciated.

Plex HTPC.log (287.9 KB)

The Steps I did are:

I Closed Plex HTPC
Deleted the contents of the HTPC Logs Directory
Restarted Plex HTPC
Opened the Music Library
Shuffled the Whole Library
Opened the Play Screen
Backed out of the Play Screen, now, only 10 Albums of 60 are showing
Selected the Music Library again and now All 60 Albums are Showing
Opened the Play Screen
Closed Plex HTPC

This is from the Console in Plex Server as, for some reason, no Logs were Created.

Hopefully the Logs will show something.

Thanks in advance

I know this is not a helpful answer but I´m also having this issue… I accepted it… It’s luckily not a show stopper - its “only” annoying…

I guess we have to wait for the Plex experience apps to come to the desktop platform until we see some serious bug fixes. No ETA for them, however

Without any confirmation, I have the feeling the desktop apps are currently only in maintenance mode… so don’t expect something soon there.

I don’t have this issue. Tried to replicate it in various ways.

Given the lack of responses, it may be an isolated issue to certain installs ?

Hello

Thanks for the Reply.

Did you try following the Steps I outlined in the First Post above?

I am able to replicate this Issue every time I Back Out of the Play Screen.

This problem has happened since Plex HTPC was first Installed, it even happened after a Clean Install of Windows 11 and Plex Server using the Latest Versions of Plex Server and Plex HTPC .

Thanks

Kevin

There was nothing in the log I could identify, but I was able to reproduce the issue, except for me it is only a visual glitch. It would say 10 artists, show 6 on the first row and only 4 on the next. But I once scroll past the first artist, the rest of the artists will appear. Do you see this or are you stuck at 10 and can’t scroll more than that.

I’m only able to reproduce this when the first artist is selected, so coming back to the main page puts the highlight on that first album. If I do this from any other artist, I can’t reproduce the issue. i.e. If I highlight the first artist, then go up, then to the right to shuffle, then stop playback, I get the 10 glitch. However, if I move to the second artist, then go up and right to shuffle and come back, it works fine.

Hello @MovieFan

Thanks for the Reply.

I have just Tested it and I am getting the same behaviour, as you.

I have 60 Albums.

If I follow the Steps from the First Album, only 10 Albums are shown which is reflected in the Album Count at the Top, if I follow the Steps from the Second Album all the Albums Show, however, the Number of Albums is shown as 36, not 60.

Thanks

Kevin

Ok. But are you still able to access all of them if you move around or do you really only get a limited number. For me, it’s just a visual glitch and i can still access everything.

Hello @MovieFan

Apologies, I thought I clarified that.

Yes, I am able to Scroll Down and when I do the rest of the Albums appear, however, the Album Count stays the same, i.e. Not 60.

Thanks

Kevin

Easy enough to reproduce. I see that the filter count reports 10 and initially only 10 items are shown, but once you navigate down all Albums do populate. The count is still wrong. Filing now, thanks for reporting!

Hello @Atomatth

Good to Hear.

Just to Clarify, this also happens on the Movies Library too, I am not able to Test on the TV Shows Library as I do not have enough TV Shows, at the moment.

Thanks

Kevin

This would only affect Music since you don’t drop video playback into a mini player like we do with Music.

Hello @Atomatth

Sorry, I need to Clarify.

If Music is Playing, Back Out to the Library Screen
Select the Movie Library, at this point All Movies are shown
Open the Music Play Screen (Small Icon in Upper Right)
Back Out again
Only 10 Movies are shown.

Hopefully that makes sense.

Thanks

Kevin
