[BUG] Nvidia Shield - Movie/Show Details Page Cursor Keeps Moving

Tough one to explain. When using an Nvidia shield, navigate to a movie or tv show and click in to the movie/show details.

On this page lives the movie details, actor pics, extras, etc. When navigating this page, the cursor will refresh back to the top every 5 seconds (roughly).

It appears to have 2 positions tracked though. If I move the cursor to an actor image 4 over from the left (as an example), after the 5 second refresh, my cursor will be back at the top, then on the next 5 second refresh, the cursor moves back to that actor image that was originally highlighted on, and it will flip between the two positions every 5 seconds.

When on the ‘second’ position at the top, if I then move the cursor down to the extras tab, the 5 second refreshes will alternate between the actor image and the extras image, alternating every 5 seconds, which implies that the UI is tracking two different cursor positions and switching between them roughly every 5 seconds.

I have already deleted the app entirely and reinstalled it, and the same issue happens. This is also happening on friends shields. Not sure when it started, but within the past few months.

It’s a long shot but if you have the 3rd party app “Button Mapper” installed for tasks like customizing buttons on the remote control, it can cause all kinds of weird cursor problems. I have never seen this one, but plenty of other cursor issues.

My Shield is stock, no button mapper installed and almost no 3rd party apps outside of Plex and Netflix. It’s strange that it happens on multiple Shield units too.

I had a similar seemingly random cursor and focus behavior. I replaced the remote’s batteries which fixed it all.

I have replaced the batteries on the remote, used a different remote, tried it also with both a 2015 and 2017 remote, but the same issue. It’s not a hardware problem, but a bug with Plex. I’ve also wiped the Plex app off and put it back on, and the issue it happening on my sisters Plex as well on her Shield.

When you go into the details of a movie, and scroll down then wait a few seconds, does you’re UI stay steady or flip up to the top? Wondering if its something server side that’s happening that is triggering it.

Mine stays put. No movement at all.

note: I’m using a custom launcher (Dispatch)

Mine also stays in place, no movement.
Can be Server Version, Player Version or Shield Firmware.
My Player is 10.22.0.1493
Server is 1.40.4.8679
Shield is 9.20
