Running Plex server 1.8.2.4209 with plex pass. I am sharing all my plex libraries with a user. There are no restrictions on the user. The user can see all my libraries (Home Video, Movies, Music) except my photo library. When the user selects the photo library for the first time, a message complaining that timeline sharing will not work without a server update displays (which should not be the case, I am running 1.8.2.4209), and then after selecting to view by folder, the message “There are no items in this library” displays. There are no issues with my primary user being able to see the contents of the photo library, only my shared user has the problem.
I see the announcement today about photo sharing features. I observe that every time I have tried to share photos with a user over the past several years, it has been broken for one reason or another. Every attempt I have made to communicate the problem has never even been acknowledged by a plex developer. Please engage and fix this.
We did not launch any photo sharing features today, so not sure what you’re referring too.
I’m wondering if the user you shared with is a Plex Pass user? if not, maybe they don’t have Timeline access.
If so, at the top, you may be able to change the view from ‘Timeline’ to ‘Photos’ and that may fix your issue.

keithah,
Thanks for your reply.
The user is not a plex pass user. The user is using the web app, and has the three filter settings at the top left selected as “All” “Photos” and “By Name”. As I described above, the message returned is “There are no items in this Library”. As I described above, there are no issues with my primary user being able to see the entire contents of the photo library (either with the “timeline”, or the “photos” filter selection), rather only my shared user has the problem. If the shared user changes the first filter at the top left from “All” to “Year”, and selects any one of the year choices presented, in each case one and only one photo is displayed, despite the fact that the library has many photos for that year. One theory about what might be happening here is that the software tries to select “timeline” as the second filter as a default when a shared user logs in for the first time, and when the user is not a plexpass user, it (incorrectly) corrupts/prevents the shared user from being able use the “photos” filter properly.
I want to point out here that I am trying to test a use model for sharing my photos with remotely located friends and family, and that I have attempted to use this feature for years now, always without any success. I am have been a plex pass member since the early days of Plex.
