As title says, when a new movie is added to the server for some reason PMS mark the movie as watched, i noticed this since last PMS update
I don’t think is a player bug because marked as watched shows on all players, anyone else having this problem ?
This is not a Beta problem, i had to put a tag since i was not able to create one
can’t create a proper TAG . who designed this forum ? you click on search or create but you can’t create 
Are you sure you never had this movie ever before on this server?
Because the ‘played’ status is not thrown away if you remove the movie. Even after a Plex Dance.
i am positive, Sgt. Stubby: An American Hero 2018, i add this yesterday and was marked as watched, The Meg, Sicario: Day of the Soldado, Solo: A Star Wars Story all were marked as watched when were added to the server
Because then everyone starts making random tags that mean nothing or a million versions of the same one spelled slightly differently. If your server is on windows then use the server-windows tag or for which ever OS you have. (we know not all things are OS specific)
Or inspect them yourself. Take a look at the Plex Media Server.log file and seek for messages about database corrupt or malformed.
If you find these, you may have to repair your database.

here are the logs as requested, please have a look since you know what are you looking for (i marked the movies as unplayed before i watch them)

The Meg was added in date of 16.09.2018 other movies were added last week in the weekend or sometimes at the end of last week
The good news is that there are no signs of database corruption in the logs.
How do you trigger a library update after adding a new movie?
Is it an external tool or do you rely on the builtin automatic library update of Plex?
Do you have to perform a manual ‘Fix Match’ or ‘Match’ procedure?

I rely on build in automatic library update (Scan my library automatically and Run a partial scan when changes are detected are ticked)
no, i do not have to perform a manual Fix, the Match is correct
Is it possible that some script or add-on accidentally triggers the shortcut of the web app w to toggle the item’s ‘played’ status?
Are you using the trakt.tv plugin?
single plugin i use is subzero for subtitles, but now i am not even sure that this happen to all media, i added today a new movie and does display as unplayed, i think is random because i remember some were marked as played some not, might be a glitch 
, i will monitor the situation when new movies are added to see if happen again
When it happens again, inspect the Plex XML info of that movie.
The lastviewed key has a date/time in Unix epoch format.
This should contain the date at which the movie was marked as ‘played’.
If that date is earlier than the date/time the movie was added, then the movie was already in the database once before and was marked as ‘played’ back then.
ok, so regarding to my problem, same problem again today was added to server
Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation at 12:47pm and Leave No Trace at 3:33pm
i have looked on XML info and i saw that was marked at this time

another thing i noticed that is only me(admin) have this problem, i had checked with my brother account and was fine

i am not sure if is because of the trailers or not because on that day i saw a trailer for that movie “Leave No Trace” and i think same happen with Hotel Transylvania 3, somehow the trailers trigger the movie as watched when is added to the list, i have no other explanation
Do the logs perhaps cover the timeframe when you watched the trailer?
Was the trailer played automatically before a movie or did you choose to watch this particular trailer?
yes is with the time frame i was watching the movie and trailer was played automatically before movie started.
i chose to watch the movie Sgt. Stubby: An American Hero around 9 pm something on date of 15 so i press play, and 2 trailers came the trailers came (set to two) setting for playing trailers are set to “Include Cinema Trailers from new and upcoming movies in theaters” and Choose Cinema Trailers from All Movies, and Hotel Transylvania 3 trailer played numerous times on other movies, i dont even remember when i saw it the first time, i do expect that will happen again for upcoming movies, that been told when i said that on my brother device is all fine i saw that the trailers are disabled so all new added movies are marked as unplayed, so i do believe that trailers trigger that, now i find this frustrating being a plex pass user not able to use trailers because when the movie will be added will be marked as played, i did updated the PMS to the latest version today and we will see, any fix for this ?
today i add Ant-Man and the Wasp to my library and same thing , marked as played

how much rudeness, i have this problem since i open this post, i did wait for two new updates to see if this problem is fixed, obviously not
so i saw this trailer (Goosebumps 2 Haunted Halloween )when i watched a movie on 02 Dec 2018
today i added this movie in my library and was marked as watched, guess what marked as watched on

if i use trailers when i play movies, future movies that i will add to library will be marked as watched, if i don’t use trailers all is good
I’m sorry, there are no news about this.
It has been reported but it was not pushed to the front.
makes me sad to know that this is not a priority, knowing that i support this application and don’t benefit
