[Bug] Plexamp: Some songs play at full volume while others play at 25%

Some songs play at 100% volume while seemingly random songs play at 25%. Those two specific volume levels are consistent. I have tested the songs on the web player and they all play at 100%. I have also tried to re-install deleting the appdata in the process. No Change. Seems to be an issue specific to Plexamp. If a song plays at 25% it will always play at that volume and vise versa. Restarting the app does not resolve the issue.

Edit: I would just like to add PlexAmp has really got me into using plex as my full time music player. Before I was using Google Music and Foobar 2000. Feel like I can’t live without it now.

So it sounds like what you’re seeing is a result of the loudness analysis only having completed on some of your tracks. You can check for yourself but seeing if you see the loudness fields on tracks in library library.

This implies that for some reason the loudness analysis is failing (likely some part of the way through). We’ve been tracking a few crashes in that area, but haven’t been able to pin down what files might be responsible for the crashing.

If you look in your Plex Media Scanner Deep Analysis.log file, you might see such an aborted attempt. Alternatively, you can run something like:

$ /path/to/Plex\ Media\ Scanner --section X --analyze-loudness

(where X is the ID of the library) and see if it completes.

Let us know for sure if you find it’s crashing!

(And thanks so much for the kind words!)

Sorry, this is an example of the fields:
