PMS for Mac 1.32.2.7100 . . . but I have seen this erratic behavior in earlier PMS versions
PMS 1.32.2.7100 failed to initiate what should be a current partial-airing recording, instead schedules a future complete-airing record, then flip-flops, changing such future complete-airing schedule to be a current partial-airing OTA recording schedule, only then commencing recording.
.
Today, 2 Jun 2023, using the Plex for Apple TV app, about 10 minutes after it had started, my wife began watching the OTA Live TV broadcast of the “The Birdcage,” which was not being recorded, nor had it been scheduled to record.
Using Plex for Mac, from the Live TV, Guide UI, I initiated recording “The Birdcage,” expecting PMS to begin recording immediately from that airing point through its scheduled end. (Allow partial recordings is our PMS setting’s default and was definitely enabled.)
PMS did not commence recording according to the DVR Schedule UI, rather a recording schedule appeared for 9 June 2023 12pm, the next EPG listed airing. That seemed a bug, but I had planned to schedule recording the entire movie anyway, so I let it be.
Some number of minutes later, while I was documenting another PMS bug, I saw that the 9 June schedule entry had changed to “No upcoming airings,” suggesting PMS had changed the recording schedule to be the originally expected partial recording.
Sure enough, that’s what occurred, but with a significant delay.
I’ve seen this buggy behavior several, perhaps even many times for many months with several PMS versions. It seems that erratic behavior began with some PMS version after ~1.27, but that’s a vague, likely prejudicial, recollection.
PMS is running on a dedicated, always mostly idle host with an SSD startup volume. (I’ve never seen even 5% CPU activity, typically only a couple percent.)
