PMS 1.32.3.7192 AGT Scheduling Bug (and also with a previous version)

PMS for Mac 1.32.3.7192

My wife is PO’ed—again. She just missed seeing the beginning of her favorite summer-schedule show, “America’s Got Talent”, due to a PMS bug. She found it playing without being recorded, so manually initiated recording the episode (yelling at me, “That piece of [dung]!”).

With PMS 1.32.3.7192, and also with the then current PMS for Mac general release previous version several weeks ago, many days in advance of airings, I scheduled “America’s Got Talent” (“AGT”) [All Episodes] [New and Repeat Airings], and both times PMS has failed to schedule an associated EPG airing.

The DVR Schedule looked correct both times. The first such failure, I happened to notice the DVR Schedule AGT entry (“AGT_Schedule_1”) was labeled “No upcoming airings,” so I deleted that DVR Schedule entry (AGT_Schedule_1), Quit Plex [player] for Mac, re-launched Plex, and then re-created an AGT [All Episodes] [New and Repeat Airings] replacement schedule (“AGT_Schedule_2”), elevating such replacement DVR Schedule entry to the highest priority among evening prime time shows (as was AGT_Schedule_1).

Two AGT episode were correctly recorded with resulting 2 hour 7+GB files:

  • America’s Got Talent (2006) - S18E01 - Auditions 1.ts
  • America’s Got Talent (2006) - S18E02 - Auditions 2.ts

.

Today, 13 June 2023 8:00pm – 10:00pm PDT [-0700], AGT was shown as airing in the Live TV Guide,

  • “America’s Got TalentS18·E3—Auditions 3”

but PMS had not scheduled recording.

As I wrote above, while yelling at me, my wife manually initiated recording AGT S18E3 (“AGT_Schedule_3”).

At the next commercial, I interrupted working (I don’t watch TV, generally), and again scheduled AGT [All Episodes] [New and Repeat Airings] (“AGT_Schedule_4”) without deleting AGT_Schedule_2, nor AGT_Schedule_3 so as to be able to take this screenshoot:

Any chance that some of this (re-)scheduling took place between 5/25 and 6/1? There were some known issues with guide data ingestion which manifested with symptoms such as you describe. It has since been corrected but, as described in the linked thread, required deletion of any recording jobs created during that timeframe and subsequently creating them again.

Thank you for responding—I very much appreciate that you took the time to so do.

AGT_Schedule_2 was definitely created during that time period, at 31 May 2023 12:07:27am PDT [-700].

It’s possible, although my recollection is that the first AGT schedule, AGT_Schedule_1, was created well prior to 25 May.

(Unfortunately, I do not have any PMS database (com.plexapp.plugins.library.db) versions between 9 May and 2 June. Historically, Time Machine caused havoc with real-time service processes, so I do not have automated backup of my PMS host Mac. The only reason I have PMS database copies other than the 4 PMS makes is from having had submitted such to Plex staff for PMS bug reports.)

If I recall correctly, I created AGT_Schedule_1 ~14 days before AGT’s first 2023 airing (30 May 2023), so ~16 May. I remember searching for America’s Got Talent, and that I couldn’t see scroll to it in the Live TV Guide UI display, but could SHOW it from the search results.

I can see from the 2, 7 & 13 June PMS databases’ media_subscription tables that I made a mistake regarding which DVR schedule caused AGT S18E01 to be recorded 30 May 2023 8:00pm – 9:59pm PDT [-0700].

AGT_Schedule_2 was created 28 hours later at 31 May 2023 12:07:27am PDT [-700], so AGT S18E01 must have be recorded due to AGT_Schedule_1, or manually.

Thank you again for a partial, if not complete solution.
