I just purchased my Plex Pass and installed PlexAmp.
I’m a bit disappointed there is a “Shuffle” button to shuffle all tracks in for instance a collection, but there isn’t any way to shuffle the albums (so all albums in a collection are shuffled, but the albums itself are played completely from start to end.)
I was hoping I could use the PlexAmp to replace foobar2000 combined with copying parts of my collection to my phone, but that doesn’t seem to work.
I exclusively use the ‘random album’ feature in foobar2000, as I use it in the car with bluetooth audio (not safe to be distracted when an album ends, as I can only skip the playlist with my car radio) and when I’m working (which means I don’t have my hands free.)
Shuffling tracks between albums is not something I wish to do. I think shuffling albums (and play the albums complete and in order) is a basic function that cannot be missed in an application like this.
I can sort the albums within a collection randomly, but when I push the play button, it creates a playlist with shuffled tracks from all albums… That’s unexpected behaviour… It should play the albums in the order they are presented.
Either a fix for this problem, or just a simple “Shuffle Albums” button would be great.
That really doesn’t work.
I have a rather large collection. I only want to shuffle a selection of albums. I gather these using the “Collection” feature (or the smart collection, based on a filter).
I also download the collection (I often listen music when no decent Wifi is available).
The Random Album Radio is limited to the complete collection.
I can list the albums in a collection by “Random”, but it’s a bit strange I cannot play the albums in that collection as listed. That’s a behaviour one does not expect.
Just experimented more.
There is really no way to get out the expected behaviour.
When I sort a “collection” on Artist, it plays the albums in the order they are sorted.
When I sort a collection by year, it plays the albums in the order they are sorted.
When I sort a collection by “date added”, it plays the albums in the order the sorted.
…
But when I sort a collection by “Random”, it plays the collection with all tracks from all albums shuffled. This behaviour should only happen when I push the “Shuffle” button.
There is also different behaviour between the normal Plex app versus Plexamp. If I play the first album in the “Album Collection” (sorted randomly), it plays all the albums in the given order using the normal Plex app.
Using Plexamp, it plays all albums by the same artist, instead of all albums within the “Album Collection”
I think this can be handled as a double bug:
→ Tracks are shuffled when using the play button of the “album collection” on top when it is sorted random (instead of playing the albums in the random order, as they appear.)
→ When playing an album (usually the first pick) from an “album collection” in Plex it does play the albums within the collection, in the listed order (which is expected behaviour), in Plexamp it plays the albums from the same artist (which is rather unexpected.)
