I’m running the latest version of Plex Media Server on my M1 Mac Mini, and I just noticed something odd with TV Shows. When you push play, and it’s on that initial buffering screen where you see the show’s background image in the player, it seems to pick random backgrounds for that show. It looks like it’ll pick one at random and stick with it until that Plex client restarts.
I store background art locally, and I’ve got background images saved for EVERY show I add to Plex. But sometimes it’ll pick a background that is neither the one I’ve got saved, or the default for that show. For example, on Brooklyn Nine-Nine, I’ve seen 3 different backgrounds in the last 2 days. And I just noticed the same issue with The Conners. It’s probably happening with other shows, but I hadn’t noticed till now.
For what it’s worth, this is only happening when on the loading screen waiting for an episode to buffer and start. In all other cases where the show’s background image is visible, it seems to pick the right one. Of course, it’s during this loading screen that the background is most prominently displayed, so I’d like to see it display the right one.
