Background Art Not Appearing in Continue Watching on Plex Media Player/Plex Web App Only

I have a series (ESPN 30 for 30) where I have background art set but when an episode appears in Continue Watching on PMP or the Plex web app it’s blank. See screenshots.

What is confounding is it displays properly on my LG Plex app, my iOS app and my Fire Stick app. Show is matched properly and all series and episode metadata is present.

I’ve tried the usual. Plex Dance, nothing. Refreshed the series metadata, nothing. Switched the agent from TVDB to TMDB, nothing. Changed the background art, nothing. Can’t see any errors in the log.

Is this a known bug or is there something else I can try? It’s so minor but when you spend hours curating your library having a big blank box at the top of the screen can grate!

Further to this, inspecting the element in dev tools in Chrome gives the url of the background-image as:

‘url(“data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7”)’

i.e. the frontend isn’t getting the path for the background image that is most definitely set on the server. Yet every other background image I’ve seen so far works just fine. What could be causing this?
