Bug report: new app gets stuck on "Up Next" screen when playing from playlist

When streaming locally from a long playlist of audio-video media files, the iPadOS app gets stuck on the “Just Played/Up Next” interstitial screen. The audio can be heard but no video is seen, and there seems to be no way to skip over to the video, so the user must press “X” to close the interstitial, which stops playback.

Buggy mess, you guys. I can’t tell you how saddened and disappointed the new app makes me.

The new app is seriously depressing. None of these things are getting addressed by the team. We are just told that everything is working as intended? I’m just getting told that I’m using the app improperly, rather than “we are working on a fix”. How about instead of talking down to customers, you just don’t break the app in the first place?

More observations:

When the player gets stuck on the “Just Played/Up Next” interstitial screen, it replays the video that just finished playing. If left unattended, the same playlist item will replay for hours, audio only, behind a static “Just Played/Up Next” interface. The way to resolve it is to press the Picture-In-Picture button, which will send you to the home screen with a video interface. Suddenly the player will stop the current playback and play the item that was supposed to auto-play next.

I have reported a very similar issue to the one you’ve described to the devs. I don’t know an ETA or anything but have heard it’s being looked at…
