Skipping episodes not working correctly on iOS/iPad

I use Plex on my iPad occasionally, and lately I’ve had this issue where clicking the next button while watching a playlist of random TV shows doesn’t skip to the next item in the playlist. Instead the playback meter moves forward, as if I’m fast forwarding. After a few minutes the next episode in the playlist will start playing.

What’s extra annoying is when the next episode starts playing, it picks up where the playback meter moved to.

Let me explain this better:

  1. Episode 3 of show A starts playing, lets say the playback time is 0:10
  2. I press the next button
  3. Playback meter moves to 3:45, episode 3 of show A is still playing
  4. A little while later episode 5 of show B starts playing, it starts playing from 3:45

Sometimes the whole playlist will stop and return to the main menu, or tell me the item is unplayable.

I don’t have similar issues on Plex HTPC on my desktop, Plex Android on my phone and nvidia shield.

I’ve cleared cache on the app, I’ve also tried with the old player. No change to behavior.

Any idea what could be going on?
