This has taken me a LONG time to figure out exactly what is causing the issue, but here it is in a nutshell:
When a user has ‘Auto-select subtitle mode’ in account - settings set to ‘Always Enabled’ live tv will not start correctly. UNLESS subtitles are set to off or the user switches the subtitle choice after starting the stream from subtitles on to off then on again OR choosing the ‘convert automatically’ once the stream tries to start.
Normally what happens is the stream just sits without playing. With the circle just spinning endlessly.
I’m using an HDHomeRun Dual for my capture device, and I’ve turned off on the fly decoding (but it makes zero difference either way).
In my household (with deaf people), subtitles are a must - so having them set to always enabled makes sense.
Turning this setting off allows live tv to work as expected.
Please fix this bug! it’s super annoying.
FYI, this is NOT the case and doesn’t affect dvr recordings/playback which all function correctly, this ONLY affects live tv. AND I can use the hdhomerun app on the same device without issue, so this is a plex issue for certain.
