[BUG] [Resolved] Last.fm account linking is broken

I seem to be unable to link my Last.fm account. I go to my account settings here on plex.tv, I click “Link your Last.fm account”, I click “Yes, allow access” on Last.fm’s website, but then Last.fm gives me the message “Invalid API key. If you are a third party developer see our authentication how-to to find out more.”

Also having the same problem.
“Invalid API key. If you are a third party developer see our authentication how-to to find out more.”

WIn10 Pro / Chome browser.

I originally submitted this to the “Ask a Ninja!” forum since I assumed the name “ninja” implied that a staff member would respond very quickly to this fairly critical issue. Since no staff has replied in two days, I’m moving it to the Feature & Bug Voting forum.

This is a known issue. Plex is looking for a fix.

Found a workaround for this issue. When you click the button in the Plex Account settings to connect your Last.fm account, you get taken to this URL:

http://www.last.fm/api/auth?api_key=eec69aab45d264204c447f34d20e982d&cb=

If you just chop off the &cb= piece of the URL, it works no problem. In summary, just change the URL to this:

http://www.last.fm/api/auth?api_key=eec69aab45d264204c447f34d20e982d

THANK YOU for the workaround! Glad to have this functionality working.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

@oxguy3 thanks so much! We implemented the workaround on our side (we no longer add the cb empty param to the Last.fm URL), so it works directly from the account page.

Early 2021 clean-up: no feature suggestion / fixed
