[BUG] Resume behavior for episodes in smart collections - Android

Plex Android TV: 8.23.1.28053

I noticed that if you have a partially played episode in a smart collection of episodes, resuming playback from the main smart collection play button always resumes the partially played episodes from the start. This behavior is on android. iOS and tvOS resumes from where the episode left off.

Hey @geosidi , thanks for reaching out. Yes, still same behavior. I have a Nebula Capsule 2 with Android 9, OnePlus 9 with Android 11, both have the same behavior, playing episode from collection always resumes from start, below are my filters for the collection which is purely made up of episodes:

Hey @blackzwe , sry for the late response.
I was able to replicate the issue, it looks like it’s mobile only, as it’s working fine on TV have also been able to replicate on TV but intermittently.

It is raised internally and I’ll post an update here, when we have something new.

It’s not necessarily a bug, but an unsupported feature. When playing multiple items, Plex generates what’s called a play queue. Some clients do not notice the resume point when an item in a play queue. The app was never designed to look at it. This requires a change in the app to take those offsets into account. You’ll see the same if you play an entire show or season, and for playlists.

There are internally filed issues to bring parity to all the clients.
