[BUG] Roku client glitches at 33% in automatic commercial skip in dvr content

This may be related to Recordings with Skip Commercials not working, spinning circle

During playback of a dvr recording (after completed, not time shifting live content) with “detect and mark” commercials option on plex server side, the client counts down to the automatic skip as expected, however, the skip appears to work, but the screen shows a “glitching” 33% (like jumping back and forth from some number to 33%) and doesn’t continue after the commercial, if I push fast forward a click on the remote it finishes the glitching and continues the recording. On the same recording on android based clients (chromecast tv and firestick) this works properly, so it appears to be a roku specific issue.

This behavior is continuing in roku plex preview 9.0.32.x with windows pms Version 1.43.0.10389 also. This issue is intermittent, sometimes it skips properly after the countdown, many times it does not.

I’ve also noticed during seeking forward and reverse quickly - like while trying to find where I want to resume play sometimes I forward too far and then jump back - the plex roku app just dies and says retry sometimes and then works ok as long as I give a second before clicking ok to continue.

I have seen a few times where the automatic skip completes as expected, but most of the time in requires manual intervention as noted in my original post.

Can you enable debug logging on your PMS, reproduce the issue, download your PMS logs, and share them with me. It may also be helpful to gather the Roku logs from the same session.

This appears “generally” fixed with 9.2.18 roku preview and Windows PMS Version 1.43.0.10467, it glitches once or twice and then skips the commercials which is tolerable in comparison to stuck forever at 33% glitching over and over. I have noticed however, if a commerical segment runs into the end of the show I have gotten a “Playback error” in some cases, but that is tolerable. Thanks plex team for addressing it!
