Recently updated my CCwGTV to the latest update (Android 12). They introduced refresh rate switching. When I enable it in plex, a lot of my media files don’t start. It’s just the spinning circle.
Yes, exact same issue. When Match Framerate is enabled movie does not start. Checking information on TV it shows that framerate has switched to the correct one, but I only get the spinner.
Turning Match Framerate off and the movie plays fine.
I am having the exact same issue. I just get a spinning yellow wheel when attempting to play any video while Refresh Rate Switching is enabled in Plex.
FYI, the new Chromecast w/ Google TV software update version STTE.220621.019.A2.9082754 added refresh rate switching to the device for the first time. It is listed as “Match content frame rate” in the Chromecast settings.
I will try to upload logs to your as soon as i can access the device. I am not at home presently.
I just came across the same issue, while in a foreign hotel with my ccwgtv. But I managed to get it working… Because of not using my normal TV, that can deal with all the audio formats the device can cope with, they are currently all turned off in settings.
The content I was initially trying to watch had aac stereo audio, and plex was trying to direct play the file. I managed to get this working, with auto refresh rate still on, by forcing it to transcode, by altering the bitrate. It even worked with a higher bitrate than the original content, but it changed the audio format from aac to opus! Did android 12 drop support for aac on this device???
Some other contact, that has ac3 stereo audio, direct-plays with auto refresh rate changing on, with the device itself doing the decoding the PCM for the HDMI connection to the cheap hotel TV.
Same issue here. After launching the movie, the TV changes the refresh rate to 24hz, but the spinning yellow circle keeps turning and the movie never starts.
Turning the auto switch refresh rate off puts everything back to normal.
The same behaviour happens on both of my plex servers, windows and linux.
I attached logs from my linux server. Plex Media Server Logs_2022-10-22_00-46-31.zip (2.5 MB)
I just updated my CCwGTV and had the same issue, but I had to turn resolution switching off as well as refresh rate switching in Plex to get anything to play.
It didn’t seem to matter what the match content frame rate settings are on the Chromecast.
Small piece of extra info. Mine does as posted above. Only plays things properly if they match the default refresh rate. Any refresh rate change required happens successfully but then the client just does the spinning circle thing.
However, if I then go and adjust the playback settings so my server transcodes, then it starts playing just fine and seemingly quite smoothly i.e. at the correct frame rate (some of the movie studio intros are good for this).
Not sure if this helps at all since it seems pretty easy to reproduce but thought I’d put it out there.
