I just started to see a bug, which was also reported by someone else here:
The issue seems to be restricted to the Plex client on Android TV.
When there are multiple versions of the same video file, playback of that video just hangs with the spinning wheel. Looking at the dashboard on the Plex server, it shows that nothing is playing. It doesn’t matter what the video is, if there are multiple versions of the file to choose from, the Plex client just freezes.
Hitting the “back” button, goes back to the previous screen without any issue, and then choosing “Play Version” and picking any of the multiple versions causes playback to start immediately. In a number of cases I have tried every version, and they all play fine.
This has nothing to do with the video being played, it happens only on the Android TV client, and occurs for every video with multiple versions to choose from. The problem does not occur on either the Web client, or the Android phone client when playing the identical video
It’s a definite bug in the Plex Android TV client which needs to be fixed, and it’s very easy to reproduce.
