Server Version#: Latest (occurring too in older versions as the bug is in the client app, not server)
Player Versions with BUG#: 9.21.2, 9.21.1.1169, tested older, 9.19.9.177 (maybe more older)
Player Version WITHOUT BUG#: 9.13.0.37217 (plays everything)
It’s only happening in android tv/mobile PMP, but not on all devices (Fire TV 4k is fine, Fire TV HD is bugged, tested on Xiaomi Mi10 is bugged, tested on Poco F2 is bugged)
When you have multiple versions of a movie (not all movies) and you click directly “Play” button, plex keeps loading and does nothing. But if you click “Choose version” plex plays fine. (It’s like plex doesn’t know what to reproduce, and reproduces NOTHING)
If you have 1 version of a movie, plays fine.
This is not ocurring on 9.13.0.37217, so the bug is introduced somethime after that release.
EDIT:
I could be more accurate after test some releases: Plex player BUG: 9.14.0.37678 Plex player WITHOUT BUG: 9.13.1.37459
I was trying to get this to work with my Watch Together. I want to watch the 4k HDR10 version on my 4k tv and have it automatically select the 1080p version for the other person who only has a 1080p SDR screen
I start the watch together and it correctly starts the 4k version on my 4k tv but it always serves up the 4k version incorrectly on all other devices I’ve tried it on
What device are you using? This bug report, as far as I understand it, is specific to Android TV when there are multiple versions nothing is being automatically selected when pressing play and just see an endless spinner on screen. So if something is being selected then sounds like that is a different issue especially if not Android TV. ( though it does sound like an issue)
Yes, these behaviors are different. His stream isn’t starting at all with multiple versions and mine are just ignoring the appropriate file.
I noticed this initiating a watch together stream FROM an android device TO Plex for Windows
I did however go into the Fire TV and turn off HDR, lowered from 10 bit to 8 and knocked the resolution down to 1080p. It still selects the 4kHDR version
This also works in reverse. If I initiate a watch together from Windows selecting the 1080p version the 4k tv also gets the 1080p version instead of the 4k
So long story short, yes this is happening on Android TV but it’s also happening on Windows. I may have jumped the gun linking the two but I’m happy to start another thread if you think it’s a good idea
