Bug with music playback on stereo pair Alexa devices

There’s a bug with Plex and Alexa which is very odd. If you use the Plex skill to listen to music everything works fine when you talk to only one device which is not in a stereo pair.

However, if you have set up a stereo pair (two Alexa devices linked together in the Alexa app) the playback starts as expected on both devices. But if you talk to Alexa and change, for example, the volume level, the main device in the stereo pair will stop playing music. It doesn’t matter which device you talk to, it will always affect the main device.

I hope this is the right place for a bug report. I’m happy to help out with logs or anything else you need to resolve this matter.

That may actually be an Alexa bug. Plex has no control of the other paired devices. Plex can only interface with the main device. I will check with the team about this but if it works fine individually and only breaks when paired, it may not be fixable by Plex.

I can only say that playing music on paired devices works with both Amazon Music (of course) and Spotify. But they have native voice commands integration. I don’t know if it’s an issue with paired devices because Plex is “just a skill”. Just an idea.

I have unpaired the devices in the living room and now Plex music works fine on both devices individually. It’s definitely an issue only when paired.
