Music on Alexa Echo stereo pairs?

Now two Alexa Echo’s can be paired for stereo. Streaming music (Amazon, Spotify, XM) feeds the first echo which then sends the other channel to the paired echo. Unfortunately the Plex skill on Alexa only feeds the first Echo in mono and the other channel is silent. Are there plans to fix this?

Unfortunately this isn’t a Plex bug. For whatever reason speaker groups only really work with the various 1st party skills. We asked about it and haven’t heard anything that we can share yet. (I bought an Echo Sub the day they released myself to give it a shot and was super disappointed when I discovered this).

I see there hasn’t been any update on this since 2018 is there any update yet on why this still doesn’t work with a stereo pair? It can’t have anything to do with first-party skills because it works with Pandora and they are no longer a first party skill but rather 3rd party now according to what I have read and they say the API for all of it is available for anybody it’s just a matter of Plex making the skill work properly.

Please get this stereo track on Echos resolved.

I just installed plex on my synology nas in order to play my own music over my alexa pair. Can’t believe this crap. Please fix this.

Another vote for this please!!

I got 2 echos as part of Amazon’s spring sale for this feature. Oh well guess i’,// keep them paired until this gets implemented

Just set up a second Echo Dot in my home office and stereo is working great for TuneIn and Amazon Music, but surprised it’s not supported yet for Plex.

Looking forward to seeing this in a future update so I can listen to some actual high quality music in stereo. Thanks!

anyone know what is happening with this, I also made the mistake on buying a second unit specifically for plex playback to find it doesnt work.

Plus one from me on this… Can’t understand why its a problem for Plex. Also no updates in the thread here suggests noone at Plex is chasing Amazon if, as they say the issue is Amazons end.

So disappointed about this. I have recently switched toPlex for my huge library away from iTunes and this just kills it for me. I guess they are too focused on being Apple TV with channels.

Want to keep this discussion going, so I’m putting up a post. Somehow, there’s gotta be a way to have a 3rd party hook up with our music library-- any brilliant code people out there? PlexTunes, we want it!!

I am also hoping for an enhancement to allow any source to stream to a group before I am forced to look for other solutions to multi room streaming without source limitations.

Same here, starting ordering more Echo devices, now the new studio…found out Plex has an issue with stereo pairs. Plex - will you get this worked out with Amazon?

+1. Plex support for Echo speaker pair a must!

Very frustrating. Holding out hope someday I can enjoy music from Plex in stereo on my paired echos.

Plex please fix this.

Disappointed would be an understatement, that music is only coming out of one speaker. I believe this should be on the urgent todo list. As it would generate many positive news stories. I wonder if tidal subscribers get mono output as well?

Did a little digging to confirm who needs to be bugged about this…appears this is an amazon API limitation and not so much Plex skill. Amazon needs to put the stereo speaker/groups feature in the API - then the Plex skill should be able to take advantage of this. Others have the same issue - my Synology NAS DS-Audio also cannot stream to stereo speakers or groups. Here is a post elsewhere explaining this…

I just don’t know how Amazon still does not allow this, when especially now - we can buy their Echo Studio and put them in every room to stream to. How can we get Amazon to react?

Keeping this thread alive in hopes we see something.

Plex has made such a big deal about being a music source with adding Tidal and such, but mono sucks.
