Hi, so according to this announcement, EPG data is still not used by default when using XMLTV, unless
- you don’t use the tvdb metadata provider at all and instead set the library to personal media or something (can somebody please confirm this???), or
- the listed show is among one of the news or sports categories, a setting accessible from the “DVR Settings” menu under “Dashboard > Manage > Live TV & DVR”.
Unfortunately this didn’t seem to take for any of my sports. I double-checked the xmltv file, and found that the category for the show in question–in fact, all categories–were capitalized. After capitalizing the relevant categories (Sports, Basketball, Football, Tennis, etc) it appears to retain the EPG data instead of trying to spuriously match against thetvdb. (In my case it kept matching basketball to some random Korean show.)
This behavior does not appear to be documented. Either it should be (preferably in the UI), or better yet, matching should be made case-insensitive.
This was observed with the latest beta as of now, Version 1.21.1.3830.
