Buggy Windows 10 Plex app needs correction

Server Version#: 1.13.5.5332

I am facing the following issues/problems:

1stly,

After I bought Plex Pass membership, due to some weird reason, when I go to Movies > Browse > and click on an alphabet, nothing shows up. Before my purchase, jumping to alphabet worked.
[Edit: I have noticed that this happens occasionally, if not always]

2ndly,

When “Theme music” is turned on, it plays, but the biggest problem is, when I enter season and episode, it starts playing from beginning again. Please rectify this. This hurts me the most, tbh.

3rdly,

I want the app to open in home screen. But as there is no settings for that, it opens on where I have left. Please add an option in “Interface” for this.

4thly,

I want the left hand side bar to remain minimized always but that does not happen, because every time I open the app, it will expand again for God-knows-what annoying reason!

5th and lastly,

Suppose I am scrolling through my movie library and I’ve come down to letter ‘T’ and I enter “This Is The End” to read the info. When I press on “back”, it takes me back to the top ‘#’. I don’t understand while engineering this app, how come you professionals didn’t realize and rectify this?

Please correct the above errors ASAP.

As a token of love and respect for your app, I have bought the Plex Pass membership. I hope you will return this favor in good time.

Is this PMP or the windows store app? if it’s the store app, good luck in getting anything fixed as the last update was over a year ago followed by near total silence from Plex.

The Microsoft Store app.

But why would they do this? I had made the one time payment of Rs. 329 through the app, and just became a plex pass member, and I won’t get their support through my feedback?!

Plex Media Player’s UI is horrible. The mouse support doesn’t work. I am unable to scroll through my movie library with the middle mouse and there is no scrollbar either!!

On my Windows store app scrolling with mouse wheel works, and a scroll bar is there.

Check out this thread, plenty of other people having issues with the app and Plex are not interested in fixing them. They should really pull the app from the store.

That scrolling issue is related to PMP, my friend, and not the store app.

God, I feel so embarrassed. I had trusted Plex. No more.

I have cancelled my Plex Pass membership.

Thanks for letting me know.

Come on, administrators! Dont have the courage to reply? Let me know what you guys are upto regarding your Windows 10 Plex app. I am a stakeholder, so don’t you ignore this discussion!

Plex in general does alright, but this windows app has been a fiasco. Not only does plex charge for this app even if you already have plex pass, it has never worked properly since it first showed up. For a while they were genuinely working on it, then they just stopped. Nobody has worked on this one for over a year, and nobody from plex has ever mentioned what is happening with this app. Safe to assume its dead and not coming back. Its a shame and really disappointing that plex not only keep it for sale, but keeps this forum open and wont respond to anyone.

Tonight I decided to run a little experiment. I first shut down all things Plex. Then, first, I signed into my Plex account. Then, I started the Plex Media Server.

Next – decision, decisions – I launched the Plex app on my Roku device. Now, I had just upgraded to an Ultra, so I had to relink it – which took under a minute, then all was well.

Next, I used the Plex on the web browser, which also had no issues.

Then Plex for my Fire TV Stick – went fine.

And, then Plex on my Android phone – that one took a bit longer, but I suspect I was overtaxing the server by this p[int.

But, eventually they ALL managed to hook up to the server. With one exception – the Windows App.

I have two Windows laptops – one runs on Win10 the other Win7Pro.

The browser based versions have no trouble on EITHER OS – and different browsers – but the App has NEVER WORKED CORRECTLY. And I have been using Plex for more than a year.

Even when I would simply start the server, log in and launch the app with no competition – it STILL wouldn’t be able to find the server.

For the longest time, I thought I HAD to be me.

It’s not. There is a serious flaw in that app — I don’t know what and at this point – I no longer care. And I’m not sure what is going on at Microsoft, but this blase attitude seems to be catching – at least as far as the apps are concerned.

Maybe Microsoft is serving more money than before from its app developers

I rely on the app to sync LOTS of content to my UHD laptop… I cant believe im the only one who wants to sync TO a windows machine

I do agree that the app rarely works.
It constantly crashes; can’t play any flac content from the server; No TV streaming. Sync works only over local network, and does not work from remote location.

I was wondering what the difference was between PMP and the Windows 10 Store App and this thread filled in a lot of the gaps:-) Amazing the App seems to have been dropped by Plex… But at least I have some info to help decide which way to go - thanks - Peter

Lets begin by saying the Plex Microsoft store app (for Windows 10) does not show cast for TV shows, whilst PMP does not show some crucial, basic information in preplay screen such as director and studio.
